Weekly summary: defense against long-term unemployment

Long-term unemployment is devastating, slowly crushing the job seekers on many levels. Physical, psychological and financial toll is steep and dramatic. Although the number of long-term unemployment U.S. has nearly 4.5 million a year to decline slightly over 3 million today, the impact on the people out of work always scary

A recent Gallup poll shows that are unemployed, twice as likely to suffer from depression than those who have full-time jobs. What is even more frightening, the long-term unemployed (27 weeks) are three times more likely to have "signs of poor mental well-being."

The rates of hypertension and hypercholesterolemia have almost doubled. Although the causes and effects are not the exact relationship of these conditions clearly shows that unemployment is not good for your health.
